SRFME is managed by a Joint Venture Management Committee (JVMC)
made up of the joint venture partners. There is also a SRFME Technical
Advisory Committee (TAC) with members having a high level of technical
expertise in marine science also drawn from the joint venture
partners (see below).
One of the principal ways that SRFME will deliver an enhanced
marine research capability to Western Australia is through relocating
and recruiting 20 CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research staff
to Western Australia and by funding the capacity to carry out
research by both CSIRO and other Western Australia research providers.
The research expertise to be assembled by CSIRO in Western Australia
has been planned in order to contribute to research outcomes in
areas identified by Western Australian research and management
agencies. The expertise will be in areas which complement and
strengthen, rather than duplicate existing research capacity in
Western Australia.
SRFMEs research portfolio is structured around a program
three Core Projects and a Collaborative
Linkages Program.
The JVMC's report
The Joint Venture
Management Committee's report on the research portfolio for the
Strategic Research Fund for the Marine Environment is available
to download as a *PDF document [240 kb].
This report, produced in June 2001, outlines the research portfolio
for the SRFME, comprising the SRFME Core Research Projects developed
by the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the resource allocation
structure for the components of the SRFME Collaborative Linkages
Program.
Joint Venture Partners (Management Committee)
The Joint Venture Management Committee (JVMC) comprises senior
executives from each of the Departments of Premier and Cabinet,
Department of Conservation and Land Management, Department of
Fisheries, Department of Environment, Department of Industry and
Resources, and the Offi ce of Science and Innovation; and the
CSIRO Chief and Deputy Chief, Marine and Atmospheric Research.
The role of the JVMC is to set the strategic direction for SRFME,
approve the research portfolio and project investments, oversee
the operations of SRFME and monitor its performance.
The JVMC members and organisations are listed under Contacts
and Key People.
Technical Advisory Committee
This committee comprises the Project Leaders and technical experts
from the relevant State Government agencies and CSIRO, and is
chaired by the SRFME Research Director. The role of the TAC is
to provide technical scientific advice to the JVMC and to review
of project proposals.
The TAC members and organisations are listed under Contacts
and Key People.
